NC STATE OPENS DIGITAL TEXTILE LAB

If there's a secret weapon in the mission to onshore production through the use of digital printing, it could be at North Carolina State University College of Textiles. The new 2,600-square-foot Digital Textile Printing Lab opened in September on the Raleigh campus with digital printing and cut & sew capabilities. Completed thanks to a 2014 grant from the U.S. Manufacturing Innovation Fund created by Walmart, the Walmart Foundation and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the lab's goal is to advance the production or assembly of consumer products in the United States. "This gives us the opportunity to come alongside companies interested in researching the coloration of fabrics," said Dr. Harold Freeman, College of Textiles association dean for research and CIBA professor of dye chemistry.
