"My background is on the technology side," he told HOTT. "I really didn't have any background in this market." Not quite. An electrical engineer by trade with a Masters of Business Administration degree, Monroe modestly admits to a brief stint in his career that included aspects of the home furnishings industry - and which ultimately changed his life. "A year and half before I started Cushion Source, I went to work doing something nontechnical - managing an outdoor teak furniture import brand - and that is how I became aware of this product, cushions," he explained. "It introduced me to home furnishings, and from there, to Sunbrella fabrics."
