Rug category players as a whole are an optimistic bunch after encouraging gains in 2015. A variety of initiatives at first triggered incremental sales increases, but over the longer term are expected to build business more dramatically. "The rug business overall is positioned for growth over the next two to three years based on continued innovation from the product side, especially with regard to fiber advancements, and also the propensity of the consumer toward hard surface flooring alternatives which promote area rug growth," observed Brandon Culpepper, Mohawk Home's vp for specialty sales.
