Sister brands Amigos De Hoy and Art Hide brought their sustainable rugs to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City as part of their debut at the show last month. Based in Sydney, the companies were founded by Australian sister duo Kura Perkins and Bree Hay-Hendry. Amigos De Hoy offers a unique and ever-changing mix of small batch, handmade and traditional artisan crafted area rugs and home textiles accessories. Art Hide offers rugs made of premium-quality cowhide sourced as a by-product of the meat industry from regulated tanneries, where methods involved in tanning and dyeing are safe for workers and non-pollutant. At ICFF, Amigos de Hoy introduced its new and ethical, made-to-measure and customizable rug line, Ground Control. Created in response to "global appetites for retreat style living and natural textiles," Ground Control is packed with natural fibers and raw materials, including jute, hemp, cotton and pure wool, many with metallic touches.
