GHCL has launched a collection of marked, traceable Egyptian cotton bedding called Nile Harvest. The Indian manufacturer has partnered with Tailorlux GmbH of Germany to use its integriTEX technology for the marking and traceability of Egyptian cotton. The agreement gives GHCL exclusive use of the technology for bed linen distributed in the US market. The tracer technology is based on a machine-readable optical fingerprint and cloud-based traceability with loT sensors throughout the supply chain. integriTEX establishes the provenance of Nile Harvest Egyptian cotton from gin to store. The IntegriTEX system marks large batches of natural fibers such as Egyptian cotton with inorganic security pigments - luminescent particles embedded on a single cellulosic fiber, for example - which provide identification with optical "lock-and-key-sensors." The marking is robust against mechanical, chemical and thermal influences on the fibers and enables the detection of proof of blending at any stage in the production process. "The main goal of the system - which has already been successfully integrated in Pima and Egyptian cotton as well as technical textiles - is to safeguard the product integrity," according to Tailorlux.
