After a wave of fourth-quarter brand introductions, major retailers celebrated the arrival of 2019 by unveiling even more. Bed Bath & Beyond took the wraps off the first of five house brands in development in early February. The new Bee & Willow Home brand takes dead aim at the modern farmhouse aesthetic and encompasses bedding, bath, window, furniture, home decor, rugs, tabletop, lighting, storage and cleaning implements. Other private brands will drop throughout 2019 and into 2020, the company said. Walmart.com launched a big new contemporary home brand last month that spans nearly 650 items. The MoDRN collection is mostly a furniture play that jumps into the space occupied by West Elm and Target's Project 65 brand. The bedding, bath and rug assortments presented under the MoDRN collection consist of Walmart's Better Homes & Gardens and Mainstays private label goods along with supplier brands that fit the aesthetic. Soft home products branded as MoDRN and developed specifically for the collection include 27 dec pillows and four window panels. While Walmart.com chases West Elm, the Williams-Sonoma Inc. nameplate is upping its game in sustainability. Its new Water Street house brand encompasses 140 bath products available online and at West Elm's stores in the U.S., Canada, UK and Australia.
