I've covered the technical side of bulbs in earlier articles. They are a very important part of everything we do in this business. What use would a lighting fixture be if it didn't illuminate? I know there are paints that glow, fiber optics that illuminate hair-like strands, and many varieties of light sources, but the familiar Al 9 is still our common denominator, but now - in the name of efficiency - the government has become involved in the types and watt-ages of bulbs we should have.rnI've pointed out before that one 42-inch, flat-screen TV on standby for a week consumes more electricity than all the incandescent bulbs that the average household uses in three months. I won't even discuss what a refrigerator, stereo, microwave, computer, and the myriad ofrnappliances spend in both stand-by mode and in operation. But alas, the poor com-rnmon household light bulb has become the whipping boy of energy consciousness in these hard times.
