Late Quaternary Landscape Evolution of the Swale-Ure Washlands, North Yorkshire Oxford

This volume reports the findings of a long-term, multidisciplinary study of the late-Quaternary period in an area of northeast England. The project was funded through the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF), a scheme whereby a modest tax on the aggregates industry was used to provide funds for research at extraction sites and the surrounding areas. The 'Washlands' in question are the low-lying areas in the northern Vale of York and Vale of Mowbray, where the rivers Swale and Ure reach low ground after draining from the eastern Pennines.
