An Experimental Study on The Pathophysiology of Postoperative Ileus and The Effect of Prokinetic Drugs on Fasting Gastrointestinal Motility at Early After Laparotomy

Impaired gastrointestinal motility is common after abdominal surgery and may be a cause of postoperative ileus. Recently developed prokinetic drugs, such as EM523L and mosapride, have been used to treat gastrointestinal dysmotility. Little is known, however, about the effect of these drugs on gastrointestinal motility at early after laparotomy. We investigated the pathophysiology of postoperative ileus and examined the effects of EM523L, mosapride, and cisapride on fasting motility at early after laparotomy.
