Reportedly the steepest A road in England, with a gradient of 1 in 4 (25%) in places, the A39 at Porlock Hill cannot be easy to drive up, let alone resurface. Yet local engineers made the task look easy this March, successfully completing the resurfacing quickly despite the challenges. By the looks of a YouTube video of the scheme, they didn't even stop to admire the beautiful views.
