Both stem from the need to do more for less. Both call for innovative thinking that questions previous and current approaches and forwards new partnerships and smarter ways of working. Here, the RSTA acts a conduit between the highway authorities and the supply chain. An example of this is the LCIRG technical training days held in partnership with the Association. LCRIG is a leading example of the value of collaboration that encourages sharing experience and good practice. It is also an example of how new innovative thinking can get the most of highway budgets. For its part, the supply chain is developing innovative products and processes - some of which are highlighted in this issue of Renew. Also covered in this issue is a reminder that well maintained roads are not only safer for road users and better for the economy, they can also reduce traffic carbon emissions as a policy paper from a partnership of European road associations underlines.
