Spanish operator Top Fly, headquartered in Barcelona, has had its helicopter fleet impounded by the Civil Guard after the company failed to meet payment demands from the Departments of Social Security and Finance. The company is also reported to still owe several weeks wages to staff, who went on strike earlier this year as a result of non-payment. Since then at least 13 staff have left the company and in early May Top Fly's manager informed students that only 10 of the 30 staff still remaining were likely to be retained. Top Fly operates a mixed fixed-wing and helicopter fleet including Robinson R22 and Eurocopter AS355 helicopters for charter and pilot training at Sabadell Airport outside Barcelona. Courses included both basic and advanced flight training, with students coming from countries across the European Union and further afield.
