摘要

As a trainee architect I was lucky to be under the supervision of an old hand who happened to love music. His Stamford school teacher had been a certain Dr Malcolm Sargent! Day to day briefings would soon turn to this shared enthusiasm. I was pointed in the direction of three great pieces - Liszt's Piano Sonata, Walton's First Symphony, and the D-minor Piano Concerto by Brahms.
