As much sculpture as product, this physically imposing dual-mono amplifier from Korea, rated at just 40W/ch, forms part of a five-strong range. The sheer scale of this 38kg architectural masterpiece takes your breath away. Integral to the chassis, with its striking anodised aluminium finish, are a Perspex top and front cover, which double as valve protection.rnA combination of an ECC81 with a pair of ECC82 double-triodes (per channel) make up the input and preamp stage of the amplifier while the push-pull output is driven from a pair of KT77 pentodes. Emille specifies its own output transformers for the KI-40L, complete with separate 8ohm and 4ohm windings. The valve bias, meanwhile, may be trimmed byrnrecourse to a series of embedded pots selected from the front fascia and an illuminated indicator dial situated above.
