In your July edition, next to p57, is an advert for MartinLogan with a quote from Ken Kessler. 'They're probably the speakers I'd keep if I had to get rid of everything else,' he says. A page later there appears an advert for Quad with a quote from Ken Kessler: 'I have to say that this is the finest speaker on the planet.' I am a little puzzled. Is there not a slight inconsistency here? Ken Kessler replies: No mystery, no inconsistency. All reviewers use a multitude of speakers in order to be able to review a multitude of products. One of the reasons Irndespised the 1980s Linn-Naim psychosis was due to its adherents condemning review products which didn't synergise with that mix, that is, not every speaker works ideally with Nairn amps. Not every amp sounded magical through Linn speakers, etc.
