High altitude tunes

A brooding and distinctly chilly cloud had settled across the top of the Col de Joux Plane. At 1700m it's not one of the highest peaks in the French Alps but the 12.5km climb from Samoeens to the summit has featured in numerous stages of Le Tour and remains one of the classic challenges for amateur (and in my case rather too heavy) cyclists to test their legs. It's what I do on my holidays.rnThe wind cut through me as I crested the summit about an hour later, picked up speed around the glacial lake and then plunged into the descent towards Morzine.
