Author of The World of Jazz Trumpet and star soloist with the Count Basie Orchestra, Scotty Barnhart has also recorded with Tony Bennett, Diana Krall and Ray Charles among others. He makes his debut as leader on this set, the fruit of three sessions recorded in three different cities, mixed into a seamless package despite the fact that only the fine drummer Leon Anderson Jr is present on all the tunes. On the one New York track, Bamhart duets Clifford Brown-ishly with his mentor Wynton Marsalis on 'Con Alma', while guest singer Jamie Davis is Eckstine-like on 'Young At Heart'.
