Part of a narrow musical sub-species - 1970s ex-pat British boogie bands who were huge Stateside but couldn't fill a pub back home - Foghat grew out of the ashes of the bluesier Savoy Brown (adding Rod Price on guitar/slide guitar) and tread the stadium boards alongside the likes of Humble Pie. For all of the Spinal Tappishness of the genre, the playing could on occasion dazzle, and this band certainly sprayed its wee-wee on the heavy-metal tree. This set from '75 was one of their best, remembered (by mulleted Yanks, at least) for 'Slow Ride' - which reached number 20 on the US charts - while a gritty 'Terraplane Blues' nods back to their blues roots, while putting a damper on accusations of dumbness.
