Their debut album was called Hot Fuss. Maybe this one should have been named 'No Fuss' because the genius of The Killers is their ability not to mess about when they know they've got a great tune. Frontman Brandon Flowers is, more than ever, the heart of this band on Day & Age, with his beautiful voice and textured synths providing a compelling core for the others to embellish. Although they do explore some new instrumentation it's Flowers' chillingly lovely vocal melodies ('Human') and inscrutably fascinating lyrics ('Neon Tiger') that impress.
