A ripping yarn

With the rapid growth of home computer audio there must be thousands of people out there busily 'ripping' their audio CDs to their PCs. However, it turns out that not all ripping arrangements behave equally well.rnRecently, I compared four different home computer systems. Two are quite old and have CD-ROM drives. The others are relatively new, and have DVD writers. I used the same software - cdparanoia for the Linux OS (you can download it from http://xiph.org/paranoia) and ripped the same set of discs as a test.
