In a career that took off when he joined Miles in the early '60s, revered bassist Ron Carter had done almost everything except lead his own big band. Then came this record, which rediscovers big-band vehicles as familiar as 'Caravan' and 'Opus One' and re-imagines numbers usually played by smaller groups, like Mulligan's 'Line For Lyons', John Lewis's 'Golden Striker', Wayne Shorter's 'Footprints'.
