Steve Sutherland's articles on The Roundhouse and The Rainbow Theatre certainly brought back memories. The first was my visit on March the 17th to The Astoria Finsbury Park (later called The Rainbow) to see Hit The Road Stax - also known as The Otis Redding Show. This was the most exciting concert I have ever attended, though others stand out too, such as Rostropovich playing Dvorak's cello concerto at the Proms on the 21st of August 1968 - the day the Russians marched into Prague! The audience at The Astoria was a who's who of British pop and, if I remember correctly, it was the first time the Musicians Union allowed an American act to perform on stage in the UK without a British support act.As for The Roundhouse, it was in the late '60s, and I had gone there with two friends to see Pink Floyd play. I went to order some drinks before the set started and leaning against the bar was a police officer I knew from my days working at a police section house canteen nearby.
