Back before sophistication took over, Rod's LPs seemed like less raucous extensions of The Faces' oeuvre; all of that band's members appeared on this album. He was never afraid to mix it up with then-new material by his buddies, his immaculate ear for great material serving him as well in 1970 as it has of late with his sets of standards. Among the standouts are superb readings of Elton John's 'Country Comfort', Bob Dylan's 'Only a Hobo' and 'It's All Over Now' by way of The Rolling Stones.
