Tokyo-based ADL (Alpha Design Labs), part of the Furutech cable and accessories empire, has just launched a closed-back circumaural headphone to partner its range of DAC/ headphone amplifiers. Pitched at a competitive £225, the ADL H118 boasts 'high noise attenuation' thanks to its 'Alpha Triform Contour' earcups while distortion is reduced through its tailor-made diaphragms and powerful 40mm cryo-treated magnet assemblies. Copper-coated aluminium voice coils help reduce the mass of the drivers while contributing to a medium 68ohm impedance and 98dB/1mW sensitivity.
