Mourning the lack of classic late '60s/early '70s style pop-oriented singer songwriters? Sarakula, from Sydney, Australia, may just be your man. Handy with a 'ba-ba-ba' vocal hook, and inclined towards mid-paced, keyboard-led three-minute earworms that wouldn't have sounded out of place on a Raspberries or Badfinger album, he knocks off songs like 'I Will Deliver' and 'Bohemian' which are easy on the ear but also stand up well to repeated plays. There's nothing even remotely challenging here but it's hard not to admire his exquisite craftsmanship and Bacharach-like impeccable good taste. A little something for a luminous summer afternoon - assuming one ever comes.
