One of the joys of the Munich High End Hi-Fi Show is the way in which some manufacturers like to pull out all the stops with visually impressive show 'specials', and nowhere is this more prevalent than in the world of the turntable. It wasn't so long ago that this marvellous 'showmanship' was ruled by Transrotor, but in recent times it has had some very strong competition from one of its fellow German countrymen: Acoustic Solid. Over the past few years Acoustic Solid has delighted (and often somewhat alarmed) visitors with some decks and arms that were made largely from bamboo, one that appeared to have Smarties stuck all over it, and others that offered more chrome and bling than every nightclub dance-floor in Essex put together.
