This is pretty astounding and, as the promo-flak suggests, it's also 'charming'. Actually, 'charming' was my first clue that this might be worth listening to. The band is just Rob Jones, a chappie who puts his songs together in his north London home studio and has been called a 'bed-sit Brian Wilson'. In fact, he's more of a basement Burt Bacharach writing tunes for Vampire Weekend to sing, sometimes so deceptively catchy that they sound lightweight, but listen again and their inner strength reveals itself.
