It is well over a decade since Hi-Fi News ran its last LS3/5A Shootout [see HFW Jun '01]. It was said that the goal 'was to find which commercially-produced LS3/5A best approximated BBC-badged LS3/5A numbers 001/002, loaned to us by a private collector'. Since then, the LS3/5A market has changed considerably, especially with the introduction of the Stirling Broadcast LS3/5A V2 [see HFN Sep '05], the Falcon Acoustics LS3/5A and the Graham Audio 'Chartwell' LS3/5. The Far East LS3/5A collector market is still very active, which is reflected in the prices paid for early Chartwells and Rogers models, while I understand that enthusiasts are now adding the new Falcon Acoustics model to their collections.
