If you're gonna do an album of covers - I'm waiting for Eleanor McEvoy to interpret the Great American Songbook - you can do worse than pick 11 tunes that date back to the 1800s. Ultra-lrishness pervades this captivating - yet deliciously modern -homage to one of Ireland's most evocative poets and songwriters, Thomas Moore (1779-1852). Ordinarily, I'd run a mile from anything this worthy, but unconditional love for Ms McEvoy and a current dose of chronic sentiment finds me wallowing in this set, recorded with drums, percussion, bass flugelhorn, piccolo trumpet and keyboards.
