Iveco, Hino trucks show off toughness, endurance in Dakar Rally

Iveco "dominated" the truck category of the world-famous off-road Dakar Rally 2016, according to the Italian-based global truck maker, while Hino Motors won its seventh consecutive Dakar championship in the under-10-liter class in the truck category. Last months rally saw specially modified trucks, along with cars, quads and motorcycles, race across 9,000 kilometers (nearly 5,600 miles) of off-road terrain through Argentina and Bolivia. Out of 55 competing trucks, six different brands made it into the top 12 in the Truck Category. Iveco had four trucks place in the top 10, three of which were in the top five, including first place. Iveco's entries were two Powerstar trucks (a model created for Australia), and two Trakker models (designed for the quarry and construction market).
