Her Majesty s Revenue & Customers (HMRC) is cracking down on businesses that make late PAYE payments by introducing a new penalty regime from May 2010.rnThe new plans will impose more severe penalties on all employers, instead of just large employers as previously.rnIn the past, as long as the year's PAYE was paid by the last payment date of the tax year (19 April), no interest or penalties were charged.rnFrom May 2010, penalties will be imposed for each late payment in the tax year, except the first one unless it is more than six months late.
