SERVICING AND PROPER INSTALLATION VITAL FOR CO SAFETY

The All-Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group recently held a panel to discuss carbon monoxide (CO) safety in the domestic environment. The panel was attended by representatives from government, the industry and foundations established to raise awareness of CO. Notably, several attendees and panel members raised the major issues of poor installation and a widespread lack of servicing on aged and failing gas appliances. One presentation reported several fatalities in recent years, all of which took place in the homes of people over the age of 85, whose boilers had not been serviced for more than 30 years.
