Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E.h. mult. Franz Mayinger, the honorary editor of this journal, will celebrate his 80th birthday in September of this year. This special issue is dedicated to him recognising his lifetime achievements in heat and mass transfer and his support of this journal during the last decades.
