Electronic Health Records: One in four ambulatory EMRs on the chopping block

More than one-quarter of both large and small ambulatory practices say they are considering replacing their EMR, according to the latest KLAS report on ambulatory EMR perception. The study, which interviewed more than 400 large and small practices across the country, finds that another 12 percent would like to replace their system but cannot do so for financial or organizational reasons. "There are different reasons for this shift," says report author Jared Dowland. "Larger practices are seeking to consolidate from multiple EMRs and tighten their relationships with nearby hospitals, while smaller practices are seeking to resolve functionality, support and cost concerns."
