摘要

On March 13, 2002, a Washington DC landlord was sentenced to two years in prison and required to pay a tine of $50,000 for making false statements to federal officials and obstructing federal investigations in order to conceal his failure to notify tenants of the presence and hazards associated with lead-based paint. The sentence represents the first U.S. criminal prosecution for failure to provide lead hazard warnings as required under the Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act of 1992 (the Lead Hazard Reduction Act). The sentence was handed down by the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland in U.S. v. David D. Nuyen, Criminal Number: DKC-2001-0134.
