Superfund Hazard Ranking System May Be Modified to Add Vapor Intrusion Component

The Hazard Ranking System (HRS) is used to determine the relative threats posed by sites contaminated with hazardous substances. By evaluating numerous factors related to waste characteristics, site conditions, and proximity of potentially exposed individuals and sensitive environments, the HRS can be used to prioritize EPA's cleanup activities.
