Curbing Emissions

On April 5, 2005, the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association (CVMA), the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada (AIAMC) and the Government of Canada reached a voluntary agreement that commits the automobile industry to greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions through to the year 2010. Specifically, by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU), the parries agreed to cooperate to reduce light-duty vehicle GHG emissions by 5.3 million metric tonnes (MT) of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e).
