Road vehicles carrying dangerous goods must also carry Instructions in Writing and personal protective equipment to be used by the driver in case of an emergency. The precise requirements can, however, cause confusion. A technical note from NCEC aims to clarify things. The 1999 amendment to the ADR Agreement, which covers the international transport of dangerous goods by road throughout much of Europe, changed the requirements for the format and contents of the Instructions in Writing which must be carried by the driver. In particular, the amendment changed the requirements for the "mention" of personal protective equipment.
