Overview since the devastating events of September 11, 2001, Security has been at the top of every business' list in the US. This remains the case nearly three years on, as chemical distributors report a customer base that is only too aware of making sure they are served safely. In the past twelve months chemical distribution in the US has been impacted by a range of ongoing challenges, with the price of energy - natural gas in particular - and security emerging as industry's top two concerns, according to National Association for Chemical Distributors (NACD) president James Kolstad. The association has taken a proactive standpoint as far as security is concerned, and is leaving little to chance. Through implementing its own security provision -Responsible Distribution Process (RDP) -NACD has become the first association in the chemical industry to impose security provisions in its industry code of management practices.
