Intermec has expanded its range of handheld computers with the launch of the CK32IS, an intrinsically safe system suitable for use in hazardous environments across the globe. Intermec can now supply customers within the chemical, oil and gas and pharmaceutical sectors, among others, with the CK32IS handheld computer. "A powerful, intrinsically safe, extremely rugged handheld computer", the ATEX-, IECEx- and UL-certified CK32IS, the company says, boasts the most extensive list of global hazardous environmental ratings of any handheld computer on the market and can be deployed anywhere in the world. From its inception, the CK32IS was designed for use within hazardous environments. Meeting the most stringent requirements not only for flammable gases, vapours and liquids, but also for dust, fibres and flyings, the unit is fully ATEX-certified for use in Zone 0 (gases) and Zone 20 (dusts and fibres) environments, representing the highest possible safety ratings and requiring double-fault protection of its circuitry. In addition, the company continues, the CK32IS's accessories also meet the latest associated apparatus certifications "to provide the highest level of safety".
