China's steel drum market has enjoyed almost constant growth for the past two decades as imports of chemicals have risen to meet the shortfall in domestic production. Chemicals arriving in bulk at China's ports are drummed for onward distribution, meaning there is a significant business synergy between bulk liquids terminals and drum manufacturers.rnA case in point is GEP Drums Shanghai Ltd, one of China's largest foreign-owned manufacturers of steel drums. The company is run by Singapore-headquartered Great Eastern Providence (GEP), which owns two steel drum plants in Singapore and a steel drum plant in Shenzhen in Guangdong Province in South China in addition to its Shanghai plant.
