The International Tank Container Organisation (ITCO) has updated its previously published guide to safe practices for accessing tops of tank containers. With a summary entided 'Protection of Falls from Tank Containers,' die new version clarifies what was in the previous protocol, provides tools to enable sites to carry out risk assessments, provides detailed guidance, and explains that depot and terminal sites have responsibility for providing safe tank-top access. The new protocol, like the previous one, was developed in cooperation with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and it also retains original engineering improvements that would define the responsibilities of tank operators.
