Exmar has reported EBITDA of $22.7m for the second quarter 2013, down on the first quarter. EBIT for the first six months was $74.7m, up from $52.5m for the same period last year but inflated by a $54.2m gain on the sale of 50 per cent of Exmar LPG to Teekay LNG Partners. EBIT contributions from both LNG and LPG operations were down on last year, with timecharter equivalent earnings for most LPG sectors slightly below first-quarter levels. Exmar LPG, meanwhile, has exercised options on two 38,000-m~3 LPG carrier newbuildings with Hanjin Heavy Industries. Hanjin is already building four such ships at its yard in Subic Bay, Philippines and Exmar has another three midsize LPG carriers on order with Hyundai Heavy Industries. The first vessel in the newbuilding programme is due for delivery in February 2014; the two orders added this week will arrive in the fleet during 2017.
