USD 600 Million Project Financing Completed for Construction of Atlantic LNG Plan: Deal is first of its kind in the Americas

The Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad and Tobago sought to raise USD 600 million in limited resource project financing for the first liquefied natural gas project in the Atlantic basin. Atlantic LNG's five corporate sponsors, from three continents, wanted to optimize structural flexibility at the lowest all-in financing cost with the proper use of official agency support to mitigate political risks. Together with its co-lead arrangers, ABN AMRO Bank underwrote the full amount of the transaction. ABN AMRO Bank led the effort to secure political risk support from Eximbank and OPIC. Atlantic LNG is the first project financing to utilize Eximbank's 'political risk only' coverage, the first LNG project financing in the Americas and is the largest and longest tenor project financing to date in the Caribbean.
