New Wickes could cost rival ￡1.36m

A DIY store has estimated it will lose ￡1.36m of trade when a new Wickes opens in the same town. Gardiner Homecentre, which opened in Cirencester in 1979, suffered downturns in trade when Tesco and Dobbies moved into the Cotswold town. Now it faces the might of Travis Perkins, which plans to spend ￡5m opening a Wickes, City Plumbing Supplies and a Bench-marx in the city's Love Lane Industrial Estate.
