Efficient but at the same time simple cargo handling, in combination with a high cruising speed and a low emission rate, is one of the most important trends in designs of new ro-ro vessels for sto-ro dominated transportation of paper and forestry products in Northern Europe now. The latest generation of vessels in Transfennica's traffic follows the timetable more exactly and has better capacity as well as greater flexibility than previous vessels. The transportation by sea of paper from Finland to the Continent and the UK has taken a step closer to the ideal which can be described as a direct conveyor belt between factory and distribution terminals.
