A castle in the middle of the ocean

HydroTec developed this 65-meter Explorer, designed for worldwide travel, to mark the 25 th anniversary of the design studio founded by Sergio Cutolo. »Van-guard«, as the Italian project is called, towers above the water like a castle in the middle of the ocean - massive and inaccessible from the outside, yet open to views of the horizon thanks to its numerous windows and terraces. The name of this exceptional project follows an old British naval tradition; since 1580, there has always been at least one warship named »Vanguard«. The Explorer will travel with a hybrid propulsion system and feature a highly interesting layout. On the lower deck, for example, it features a six-meter pool and four guest cabins with fold-out terraces. The main deck is divided into saloon and master suite, and on the two upper decks »Vanguard« manages without superstructures - instead there are two sun-decks. The furniture on the lower alfresco deck is arranged asymmetrically and, with its numerous seating areas and a Jacuzzi, is ideal for events. The upper of the two sundecks will be preferred by sun worshippers or guests who want to keep an eye on the course of the »Castle at sea«. The tenders are stored under the helipad at the stern and are launched by cranes at the sides. Between the aft and forward superstructures of the 65-meter Explorer, the available open space lends itself to flexible use.
