This scarf evolved from my early attempts to design a shawl for auction at a sheep-to-shawl competition. I was exploring ways to add value to the shawl without losing time during the event. Warp beading was my first idea; beaded leno bands, my second.rnI made up a few rules. Beads can be expensive, so, Rule #1: Every warp end contributes a maximum of one bead per woven section between bands of leno. So that the beads can pass through it, I needed to use a reed with large dents. That meant that several ends would be sleyed together in a dent and must be thought of as a group, leading to Rule #2: In a 6-dent reed, four warp ends in a dent equal one group.
