Summer Lace Placemats and Mug Rugs

I have been weaving for over thirty years. One of my first projects included "lace stripes" adapted from a draft in A Hand-weaver's Pattern Book by Marguerite Porter Davison, a book I still enjoy today. Although the draft is in Davison's chapter on Swedish lace, its lacy structure is formed by three-thread huck with skipped dents in the reed creating the lacy spaces. To further play on the lacy feeling of the placemats, I worked rows of ladder hemstitching at both ends of the placemats.
