Log Cabin at Sunset

RECENTLY, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH gradient yarn cakes. I love the beautiful tones created as the yarn blends from one color to the next. For this scarf, I wanted to weave traditional log cabin using a gradient yarn with a solid-colored yarn rather than two solid colors. In addition, I decided to divide the gradient yarn into smaller lots by color so I could strategically place them in the warp and weft. There is more preparation time with this method, but the finished product has subtle blocks of color that you can't get using solid yarns in similar hues.
